Coop Community Impact Fund
Reinvesting in a stronger future for our islands
The Coop Community Impact Fund is a charitable initiative that reinvests unclaimed member balances from dormant accounts into projects that create lasting environmental, social, community and heritage benefits across Jersey and Guernsey.
The fund was created following a member-approved rule change at our 2021 Annual Members' Meeting, when members voted to put dormant account balances to work in our communities rather than leaving them unused. As a result, a dedicated fund has been established to support projects that align with our cooperative values, sustainability ambitions and commitment to making a positive difference in island life.
Supporting projects with lasting impact
The Coop Community Impact Fund complements our existing Coop Community Fund, creating a joined-up approach to supporting local organisations and initiatives.
While the Coop Community Fund will continue to provide smaller grants for local projects and community groups, the Coop Community Impact Fund has been designed to support larger-scale initiatives with the potential to deliver significant and lasting benefits. Grants of up to £25,000 will be available for projects that demonstrate clear community value and measurable impact.
How the fund works
The Coop Community Impact Fund will provide support through three funding routes:
- Direct funding for projects identified and approved by the fund committee
- Partnership grants with trusted charitable foundations
- An annual application programme for larger, high-impact projects
This flexible approach enables the fund to support a wide range of causes, from environmental conservation and biodiversity enhancement to heritage preservation, accessibility and community wellbeing.
Our first funded projects
We’re delighted to announce the first two Guernsey projects to receive support through the Coop Community Impact Fund, totalling £15,000.
Guernsey Nature Commission – Biodiversity Support for Landowners, £10,000
Providing ecological guidance and practical support for landowners managing sites of ecological importance, helping to protect and enhance biodiversity across the island.
National Trust of Guernsey – South Coast Land Remediation, £5,000
Restoring scrubland to species-rich grassland, supporting native wildflowers and strengthening the protection of Guernsey's natural heritage.
Looking ahead
The Coop Community Impact Fund forms part of our wider Sustainability Blueprint and reflects our long-standing commitment to supporting island communities.
Alongside annual funding contributions, colleague volunteering opportunities and future community-led applications, the fund represents an important new chapter in how we create positive impact across Jersey and Guernsey.
